Is it against the rules to listen to an iPod when running in the Olympics?

I watched the marathon and just found it odd that they could run for 26.2 miles without an iPod. I can't run my puny little 3 miles without mine. Just wondering if it was against the rules...

  1. It's part of being an athlete. The mental part of it is just as much a factor of it as the physical. Some people find peace in running. Besides, what did they do before iPods? Run with record players?

  2. It's against the rules.  Even if you run a local half- or full-marathon, the coordinators usually outlaw iPods.  Actually, some of the smaller 5Ks and 10Ks I've run have also said no iPods.

  3. haha

I just think it may distract them or they would run so fast that it would just come out of their ears constantly, because of how fast they are going.

I cant even ride in a car without my ipod :D

so i kno what you mean

  4. ADDS MORE WEIGHT!??!!? My Shuffle weighs NOTHING and I guarantee it wouldn't mess with my focus. I wonder if those in back had them. Good question. I wonder if there is a rule site.

  5. No, it just adds more weight...

  6. its retarded to hold something that will weigh you down when running. In the olympics every second matters
