I know its a weird question but I've always wondered if someone would be dissqualified for yelling out stuff to themselves like: faster! lets go! or yahoo! I mean I've never seen any rules against it, but never heard of it either! =)

thanks

  1. No, not that Im aware of. People have a right to cheer on athletes during a race even if it means shouting or screaming at the top of your lungs.

  2. no, not against the rules, but a waste of energy.

  3. nopee. most of the time you cannot be yelling/shouting is when the race is just about to begin.  the starters ask for it to be quiet so that the athletes can focus and hear the gun.  talking to yourself is not against the rules, but it wastes energy.  talking inside your head is better because you can build the level of confidence you need without interrupting those of your fellow runners

  4. why would someone yell during a race anyways, shouldnt they use that energy to push themselves more instead of yelling?

like during this one race this girl on my team was in front of me and she was talking to herself and me and it just made me really angry cuz its like she wasnt pushing hard enough and it was a kinda big race.

oh and our coach always says during our hard workouts "it should be difficult to talk" thats when you know your working hard enough so why should it be different during a race when races should be tougher than the workouts.

  5. no, the yelling makes everything more fun :) there's always a huge amount of screaming for teammates

  6. If you're only yelling at yourself I doubt it would be a problem.  Fans are allowed to cheer, why not runners.
