  1. what the h**l is a fuel box...???

if you mean a ''fuse'' box..no its not against the law..you paid for it..you can even add more lines if you want or take some lines out...you are over loading your ckt breakers or fuses...they can take only so many amps...

  2. Do you mean the FUSE box?

Your question suggests that the rice cooker is the cause of the problem so unplug it and don't use it again until you have had it checked; if it is faulty you will just repeat the problem. The fridge and the other sockets are probably on the same circuit and protected by the same fuse as the rice cooker.

What worries me is that the fuse in the rice cooker plug did not 'blow' before the one in the fuse-box.

I assume that the meter is in your garage. There should be one large fuse in the cable just before the meter. This should be 'locked' with a wire loop with a lead seal. You must not open this seal and should not need to do so.

There should be another fuse-box on the other, consumers, side of the meter. Ths box need not be very close to the meter but you must have one. If you can open the fuse box you can repair/replace the fuse. There are so many types that it is not possible to give precise instructions.

From this box a number of circuits supply electricity to your home. There should be separate supplies each with its own fuse for the cooker, the immersion heater, electric shower, power point and lighting circuits. Each of these circuits should be PROTECTED BY THE CORRECT SIZE FUSE.

The fuses/circuits should be labelled at the fuse box.

Like all problems, replacing a fuse is easy when you know how but since electricity is potentially so dangerous couldn't you ask a neighbour to help you? It should only take a few minutes.

You question suggests that some other power points are still working, i.e. they are on a different circuit. could you move the fridge to one of these working points or use an extension cable. In any case a fridge or freezer should be OK for a few hours if you do not open them.

  3. Follow the link for step by step instructions and pictures of what to look for and how to reset the breaker.

Find a nother plugin for your rice cooker, one that is working now.

  4. If you mean the fuse box, it's not against the law to

    touch it.

It IS something NOT to touch unless you know what you are doing.

When you plugged in your rice cooker you asked that one circuit, ("refrigerator and some plugs"), for more power than it was able to deliver, so a device in your

panel prevented the power from flowing.

There will be either fuses or circuit breakers in that panel.

Go and look. Circuit breakers look like little switches.

If one has 'tripped' it will be halfway off. just switch it all the way off, and then back on, and it will restore power.

Fuses will be either little cylinders on clips or s***w-in plugs.

It would be best if someone who knows how showed you how to handle these, as it can be dangerous for someone unfamiliar with them.
