We're bringing my guinea pig to the beach (and my sister's gerbil) for a week. I'm afraid He's gonna get overheated while we're their but there's no one to take care of him while we're gone. Please help?

  1. yes, he will get too hot and may die, call ur vet and see if they could take care of him. while u are gone. also petsmart or petco, may have some water bottles, and food dispensers for a weeks drinking and feeding... maybe someone there at those stored could take care of hime while ur gone. I know I have the same problems with my birds when i am gone.

  2. Of course it is. BUT YOU HAAAVE TOO........

    1. bring her cage, treats, food, vitamin water, etc.....

    2. DO NOT, and i mean DO NOOOOT let her/him go NEAR the water or let ANYONE step on her/him.

    3. bring a towel to lay on the sand in case she/he is tooo scared to walk on the sand.

    4. if she/he doesn't want to be there at all, bring out the cage and put it next to you. Let him calm down....it'll be a BIG step for him.....lot's of pressure...

I hope you choose my answer as the best answer, and i wish a pray you luck for your Guinea Pig if you decide to take him w/ you.

  3. lol i was thinking about the same thing!I want my guinea pig to swim with dolphins!!!lol

  4. Yes, They`ll both be OK. But you won`t. You WILL be laughed at and Teased because you Brot your Rodent to the BEACH!!  - Claire.

  5. The road trip will be fine, as long as you have the air conditioning going in the car. Try to handle your guinea pigs in the car so they don't feel as curious. At the beach if they are going to stay in the indoors all day, BRING A FAN! Put the fan by the cage (not directly in front of it) and they will not get over heated.

  6. I don't think thats a good idea. Guinea pigs can die of heat stroke in as little as 85 degrees fahrenheit, even in the shade.

Ask a trusted friend, neighbor, or relative to take care of your piggie.

  7. there are many pet stores that will let you leave a pig in their care for about £2 or 4 dollars a day i wouldnt think its ok to take a pig to the beach

  8. Um I would not think he would enjoy the beach too much.  Think about where they are native creatures.  They do not hail from the beach and there is a good reason for that.  The most rodents need to burrow in cool moist ground.  Like a forest or meadow.  He will not be healthy on the beach because it is hot and dry and sandy.  Plus he can probably not swim well and there is not good food for him to eat there.  Maybe you can set him free in the woods or give him to a friend to take care of him.  And maybe this is where you and the guinea pig go your separate ways.
