Is it all right to kiss in public places in China?

i know india strongly prohibits kissing in public places, but what is it in for china?

Some people are more open minded then the others. So your answer would be... Some will care and some will not but it's not prohibited in anyway.

I saw it many times when I was there last year, in parks, on sidewalks, even when I was riding on a crowded public bus. It kind of surprised even me, but that was because it was my first visit to China in 10 years. China is so much more open these days. Much of the world's perception of China today is largely a decade behind.

I saw it a lot when I was living in Shandong Province.  I saw it more often among Chinese couples than mixed couples with one Chinese partner.  I even caught a few of my senior one high school students kissing their girlfriends in class when I was showing a movie one day.  They thought I couldn't see them because they had their books stacked high on their desks.  I was a little surprised because I had been told they were not allowed to even hold hands in school, but I guess they thought I wouldn't tell anyone.  I didn't tell their Chinese teachers, but I did tell my friends, so they didn't get in any trouble.

Its not illegal to kiss in pubic.

But the more traditional Chinese people will complain and look down on you.

If its a mixed relationship it is more likely to raise nationalist feelings in some people....

For example, I personalty know of a westerner, thought my flatmate, who was caught kissing and messing about with his girlfriend on camera (they been dating for like 2 years) in one of Beijing parks there many couples go to do such things............

The sad thing was, that the photos were posted on many websites including soho (sp) which lead to a whole range of potty mouth rants by posters. Oddly enough soho deleted any posting saying that they had been a couple for over 2 years. It came to the point that legal action was in the process of being taken, luckily the whole thing has long blown over.

Yesterday I was at Subway in Guangzhou. A young Chinese student was smooching her New Zealand boyfriend. It is the coolest thing to do in China! The cops don't care unless it's his daughter or sister.
