Is it alright to feed my parrotlet mashed potatoes?

I have read different sites claiming they should not be fed potatoes, i wanted to make sure if i can feed them to him or not. He wants to eat them though(He usually has lunch with us, on his special perch and he does seem to want to try them out

Theres no harm in mashed potato's! Potato's and Mashed Potatos are one of my Meyers Parrot favorite food items! !

My parrot loves mashed potatoes. And a bunch of other human food like creamed corn, milk, cereal, chicken, bread, noodles. When he sees someone with food he runs over to them. :)

It is perfectly ok to feed your bird mashed potatoes.  Just make sure there is not much butter in them and do not add salt.  Mashed potatoes is one of most birds favorite treats.  Just because you read it on a site does not mean it is true.  The internet is full of sites that are written by complete morons and those that don't know what they are talking about.  We call them "wannabes"  Please read my profile.

Yes, mashed potato's are fine.  I have 2 parrots and they both love potato's.  All kinds.  Just remember they are small birds, so a little goes a long way with them.  What I do with my birds is...whatever I make for a meal, if it's healthy, I'll give each a little bit to eat.  Milk is not good for birds, but again a little bit is fine.  Just no garlic, onions, avocado, chocolate or honey.  And no large pits, like cherry pits, peach pits...soft melted cheese is not good for them, for their crop, like in mac & cheese.  Mine like small pieces of cheese, I just don't give it too often.  Have you tried him on any pasta ?  Mine also love pasta.  They will even eat meats, again small amounts, and not too often.  I share lots of people food with mine, and they love it.

Actually plain potatoes are better, because if mashed potatoes are made with milk, butter, salt & pepper...That's not good for them

i don't think it can hurt him, just don't feed it too often.  i know they can't have avocado because it can kill them.
