I am just wondering cause he will be a yr on the 24th and even though its less then 2 weeks till he's a yr old and of course it has whole milk in it is it safe for him to take? I saw in the grocery store there is a brand just for toddlers called "Lil Ones" By Dairy Land has anyone else heard of this brand? not sure if this is a canadian brand or not could i get get it for him even though he's not quite one yet?

Lol i know this probably sounds stupid but it has been a long time since i had to do this as my oldest is 8.5 yrs old and things have changed a lot since then.

Thanks in advance!

  1. according to my health nurse cheese and yogurt can be given to a baby between 6-9 months and any time after that. i did some reading on this because it didnt make much sense to me that they could have these but not milk. what i found out that the process of pasturization effects these differently than milk. aparently alot of lactose intolerant people can process cheese and milk much better than milk. i say give it a try, if your little one doesnt do well then wait awhile before you give it again.

  2. It should be fine, Just watch him for about a week after wards to make sure his face and lips don't get puffy, this would signify milk allergy!!

  3. its good for them

i gave mine yogurt and lots of gatoraide when it was hot

  4. That is fine!!!! I started giving my kids solid foods when they were 7 months!!! If they can swallow they are ok, plus yogurt is good for babies.....

  5. Its fine we gave it to a few babies when they were 8 months old at this day care I used to work at if the mom wanted us to. But just monitor him incase he has a bad reaction to it or is allergic to it. Otherwise he should be fine.

  6. I know my doctor said anything above 6 months.  We started with yo-baby (a yogurt for babies) and it was basically just yogurt.  She didn't like it though.

We have baby yogurt drops and there's baby food that has yogurt in it.  I've been feeding her lactose free formula, though the yogurt shouldn't have had that as an issue (yogurt breaks down the lactose.)  Still, she just didn't like it.  We haven't tried it since.  Maybe later.

Our doctor actually suggested regular yogurt instead of the flavored ones, so maybe we'll try that next.  And if she wants it, maybe mix some of her blueberry-pear baby food in it eh?  That might work... sorry, rambling.  :P

But yeah, your baby is old enough at least from all the info I've been given.

  7. Hi -

I think that would be just fine.....just stay away from strawberry flavor or other such flavors due to allergies......try to keep it simple....vanilla etc.

I am lactose intolerant but have never had issues with yogurt.  I know if milk is heated up to a certain degree, the lactose protein is killed off.....maybe there is such a process involved in creating yogurt???  But, I have always been safe with yogurt.....as have been my children and a few of them are lactose intolerant.  Your baby is practically one, go for it but keep it simple and watch him for a few days after introducing something new.....and only one new thing at a time! GOOD LUCK!

  8. wait til hes a year, you've waited this long just be safe, no cows milk until 1 years old

  9. You can give dairy products in their foods from 6 months and cows milk in their bottles from 12 months. My son loved yogurts and would have 2 after every meal because he wasn't (and still isn't) a big fan of milk or cheese.

  10. I think it's fine!

  11. it very good for them and it fine
