Question:

Is it alright to start studying now...?

I am very fond of animals and plan on becoming a zoologist once I graduate from college. My science teacher is a zoologist and studied animal behaviors so I asked her a few questions by email about what it's like studying animal behaviors and how I should be prepared. But after sending the email, I wondered if I was too young to start preparing for it now. I'm in the eighth grade, you see.

Do you think I'm too young to start studying about my future career now? Do you think I should wait until I'm in high school to start reading books about studying animal behavior and other things related to zoology?

  1. It doesn't really matter. If you like animals, then you can ask your mom and dad for a dog or cat and study their behavior and also play with them and feed them.

  2. it's not to early and go ahead and start your studying.

  3. Sure it's fine to start studying. You should also start getting experience working with animals. You could also see about zoology or animal camps.

  4. The most common reason some may say not to start studying  to soon is getting bogged down in the language of biology and the difficulty of some concepts.  But if you limit your study to books that you can understand, or figure out.  And you start by observing life of all the creatures where you live I do not think you will get bored or frustrated.  You do not need to study bears or whales, you can study insects and spiders.  Watch what they do to find food, what do they eat, how do they defend themselves.  These are the features of animal life no mater how small or large.  Your science teacher can be your guide to some good library books.
