  1. No,its not weird at all.You don`t say whether or not its because of a size thing, but if your budget stretches to it (no pun intended !!) you can get a one-piece lycra suit, from several different makers, including Speedo, but they are quite expensive, although better to swim in a pool with than board shorts and ordinary T-shirt,and definitely better than normal togs.....

  2. If thats what you feel comfortable in and are not bothered about the odd person looking at you, if I saw someone dressed like that, it would not bother me, I would get on with my own swimming and think nothing of it, so yes its ok if the pool allows it.

  3. I think most people would be looking at you and thinking you were just a bit bonkers.

  4. i knew a girl at school who would waer a T-shirt and Shorts when we went swimming and we all probaly thought it was stranger than anything she was worried about with her body. when you get in the water no one will care what you look like we are all too busy worrying about our own bodies.

clothes like that will weight you down and make you hot.

i tend to waer when i go swimming a Tankini, like some shorts Hipster things and a vest top, i find that gives me ebough freedom to swimm but covers the majority of my body, but after a good swimm all of my inhibitions go away and i don't care.

i find the more i swim and reveal my legs arms ETC. the less i feel insecure about them.

  5. yes, it is very odd looking, but i think most people would assume you have a serious skin condition or something, and then not want to get in the water themselves !

  6. You'd look a bit strange!

  7. In simplybe.co.uk you can get a swimming dress like this http://www.simplybe.co.uk/productcache/D... .

Most normal clothes aren't safe to swim as they start moving in the water and restrict your movement. You need something tight and lycra.

  8. no, you should wear a "swimming costume"

  9. Many swimming pools won't allow you to wear 'ordinary' clothes because the fibres block the filters. If you discomfort is for religious reasons you can buy full length modest suits suitable for say Muslim ladies from many specialist swimwear suppliers. If your local pool doesn't mind then it's your choice

  10. its kida weird. it will give you a lot of drag so you will be working out a lot!  Also some pools dont allow this.

  11. I used to wear a tankini (which is a bikini with a vest and shorts) with football shorts over the top of the bottoms as I used to be conscious of my bum!

So no I don't think leggings and t-shirt isn't ok but you might feel a little restricted in the water.

I'd say just wear a tankini with football shorts over the bottoms like I used to as it's more comfortable and not restrictive in any way. x

  12. well,

    it sounds kinda weird

  13. wear board shorts and a tank top.

that's what i do, not revealing and stylish

  14. I've never been comfortable in just a bathing suit either.  I usually wear a bathing suit with a pair of "board short" (these are long shorts that surfers wear - you won't look as "strange" wearing these in the water as you will wearing tights - plus, if you are wearing leggings because you are self-conscious, these are not as tight as leggings).

You'll want to be careful wearing "street clothes" in the water as they tend to hold water and weigh you down.  I would go with a bathing suit and board shorts, and then you can either wear a t-shirt over top (I have seen LOTS of people do this!), or you can even get a short-sleeved rash guard.  Rash guards are shirts (short-sleeved or long-sleeved) that surfers wear to protect their bodies from getting rashes when surfing.  They are made out of lycra-spandex type material and are much more suitable for swimming than, say, cotton.  (Whatever you do, don't wear wool! LOL).  The only place this might be a problem is if you're at the beach on a very hot day and you're not in the water much...  then a rash guard over a bathing suit would probably be quite warm.

If you're comfortable though, I would go with a very modest bathing suit and a pair of long, loose board shorts.  You'll look stylish AND feel comfortable!

Good luck finding the right stuff to wear - and good for you for wanting to get out there and get swimming even when you're not comfortable in "traditional" swimwear - that's the most important thing!

(PS - if it's because you're a bigger person, don't feel like you *have* to cover up that much. If YOU'RE uncomfortable, then go for it, but don't do it just because of what others might think. I have seen lots of larger people at pools wearing regular swimsuits and it's fine. No one else cares as much as you do!)  :)

  15. You would look odd.

  16. I don't see why you couldn't wear leggings and a t-shirt.

  17. Just wear what ever you feel comfortable wearing.

  18. alot of asain women do as they do not want to show there bodies.  It really depends why.  If it is for that reason, alot of leisure centres have women only days.

  19. Yeah, I'm sure the sharks won't mind...

  20. Well the truth is this, if your a slim person people might see it as weird but if your a little bit on the large side most would see it as normal to want to cover up.

  21. hmm sounds a bit odd, I have never seen anyone wearing that in a pool.

  22. you wear what you want girl,,,

    shame for us boys though,,,

  23. that's all about individual choice,if you feel comfortable what you wear that would be fine

  24. As long as the rules allow you to wear it - wear what you want!
