Have recently found out that a friend is doing this, going to work and acting out an apparantly normal life but is spending several hours doing this on a daily basis, is this an addiction? Could there be other issues eg mental health, depression, etc? What would you do to help?

  1. I would deffinitly have 2 say that that's a BIG FAT YES, lol.

Maybe he just likes 2 **** a lot, is all.

Get him a girlfriend, hehehehe or tell him 2 get a hobby.

    O !!!  Wait !!!  He has 1, lmao.

  2. Can you think of anything that a person could do for several hours each day as normal?  If you did, would you refer them to a professional, at least for an evaluation?  I would.

Frequently, addiction and mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, obsession, compulsiveness, problem gambling and pornography are related.  They're also very responsive to treatment.

Start with an evaluation by a qualified therapist or doctor, and follow their recommendations.  Within communities are many helps, such as the SA (s*x Addicts Anonymous), where people with the same issue come together in a safe place to learn how to live a day at a time to manage or eliminate the addiction.  IT works a lot like Alcoholics Anonymous etc, it takes work, professionals, a team of supporters, lots of learning, and energy, but many feel better about themselves, once the patterns are broken.

It's common for medicines to be prescribed, then a series of practices to be employed.  It does take several methods, and sometimes several attempts, but it can be very effectively dealt with.

See a professional for evaluation soon. (oh, you may not be able to help your friend, most external pressure is not very useful, but you can learn at Alanon, how to manage your own issues, so you can remain friends and supportive, while your friend finds his/her way).

  3. YES!

  4. no good to health.

How to avoid p**n addiction on the Internet

    1. Consider installing p**n content filtering software( Strongly Recommend NetDog ,you can get it from www.netdogsoft.com ) on your computer. it will help to protect you from stumbling into pornography by accident, That's important.

    2. Do not try to guess what the address of a Web page is. Many pornographic sites have similar addresses of respectable sites. For example www . whitehouse . com is a p**n site. The real address is www. whitehouse . gov

    3. Never click on Web site addresses that you receive in an unsolicited email.

    4. Do not open attachments that come in email that are unsolicited.

    5. Use filtered search engines or reputable directories to find the information you need.

    6. Do not search for terms like girls. Think before you enter a search term.

    Stick with reputable sites.

If something looks questionable, don't let curiosity get the best of you. Delete it or close the window.

  5. 6 hours a day?  h**l yeah, that's an addiction.

  6. I would say 6hrs at a time looking at p**n qualifies as an addiction!  The internet has a lot to answer for don't you think??

  7. 6 hours is extreme, id say he/she is addicted.

  8. oh yeah

  9. Erm, Difficult one

If its getting in the way of normal things, ie: meeting friends, going to work, eating, sleeping, then it is an issue.

I cant say about mental health, but maybe he/she is insecure, and feels more comfortable in "fantasy" world, and does not feel comfortable in public, so finds refuge online.

Hope it gets sorted Good Luck Hope i Helped :)

  10. Is this who i think it is?

  11. Definitely! Perhaps speaking to a counselor would be in order.  That's over above and beyond the normal s*x drive.

  12. i would say he/she is addicted

  13. id say your "friend" is in need of help counseling and such

  14. If it's a guy, normally looking at p**n for only a few minutes will probably cause him to want to 'get a load off'.  Studies show the average time spent in a hotel room with guys watching the porno movie is well under 20 minutes.  Most guys just use it as a masturbation aid and it works great.

Six hours is really extreme.  This guy needs to get a life.  He should seek counseling from a s*x therapist -- one that will be non-judgmental but help him to control this addiction to something closer to the norm.

  15. Normal people scare me!  They're the ones that think everything's OK!  Your 'friend' needs psychological help in the worst way.  Tell him, even if you end up losing him as a friend, that he needs to get this 'need' taken care of as soon as possible so he can get on with the rest of his life.

  16. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if thats wat he does everyday

  17. Yes this is absolutely addiction.

  18. well, talk with him, if he wants to stop, put a blocker on for him so that he can't turn off the blocker unless you would put in the password.

  19. Absolutely.

First try talking to him. Suggest alternative things to do with his time. Does he live alone or with a partner? That affects the equation. If you can't do it alone (which is likely) he'll need professional help and counseling.

It's not an easy addiction to break. There are support groups all over the country.

  20. YES! It is!

OMG.. You should find other things to do other than looking or watching p**n...

    Its not healthy..

  21. Where does he find the time?!

    yes it is a addiction,
