I've been looking into purchasing a new flat-screen for my living room, around 52 inches or so, but with talk of 1440p HDTVs being released in the near future, I'm not sure if I should shell out thousands for a new TV right now or just wait; because I don't want my TV to be obsolete within a few months of my purchase.

  1. Believe me, 1440p is nowhere near hitting the shelves anytime soon. It will be at least 5 years before this technology is released to the masses. Even then, you can expect the cost of these tvs to be sky high. Also, keep in mind that although the TV is 1440p....that doesn't mean that whatever you watch will be that resolution. There has to be a source that can transmit at that resolution. For instance, people are buying 1080p tvs left and right….but if you don’t have a 1080p capable source, you just spent extra money on something you aren’t using. Currently Only Blu-Ray Players and Gaming machines Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 can take advantage of 1080p resolution. You simply cannot play the waiting game with electronics and technology. There will ALWAYS be something better around the corner. Find a nice set that you like and enjoy your new tv!

  2. No, wait.  Companies are making improvements because with money the way it is people are hesitant to purchase.  Besides, with the economy the way it is, you should save your money as much as possible because it will only get worse.

    -Good luck, peace ot.
