An outfielder can rob a hitter of a home run by catching it before it leaves the field but, could an outfielder climb into the stands before the pitch if a home run hitter was coming up just to give him a chance to catch a home run for an out?

  1. No because his feet would be standing in homerun territory.  It would'nt be smart either because he would be giving up his area in the outfeild and would have no chance to catch a routine fly ball.

  2. If the PLAYER is still in the field of play, it is an out.  So they could not climb into the stands and make the play while in the stands however, the player could make the catch in the field of play and land in the stands.

  3. Defensive players must remain on the field during the game.

If he reached into the stands to catch a ball, it would be an out.

If he deliberately went into the stands during play, I don't know what would happen to him but it certainly wouldn't be an out if he caught a ball while there.

  4. yea that a out

  5. No im pretty sure they have to have atleast 1 foot within the playing field otherwise it would be a homer

  6. I don't think so. The player would be out of the playing field. When an out fielder jumps the wall to catch the ball part of his body is still in the field of play. So no, i believe it would be a home run.

  7. NO.  All players except the catcher must be in fair territory at the time of the pitch.

  8. No, home run territory is any where beyond the wall. The only time it's an out at the wall is if the outfielders feet are in fair territory.

  9. its home run as long as it pases the white line on the fence
