Question:

Is it any louder to run one subwoofer at max power or two with same amp.?

I have a MTX Tc4001 amp bridged at 2 Ohms running my Rockford 4 ohm sub in a ported box. ( I was told that it wouldn't hurt the sub or amp) I have the opportunity to get another identical sub that I could run in parallel to make it 2 ohm load. Would I hear that much of a difference in getting the second sub?

My worry is that it sounds pretty good now with the one sub getting all the power, would having another sub sharing the wattage be an advantage or disadvantage?

Thanks

  1. you will get some extra wattage from 2Ohm load, but it will not more than 3db. This means it will not worth. So if you want more rumble, you have to buy stronger amp, more sensitive speaker, or both. I don't reccomend to build second one.
