Is it any wonder other countries laugh at us...?

When many of our own citizens can't speak the language? We need to step up the teaching of English.

America isn't the only country that has people with poor language skills.

I am living part-time in Hungary. It is a very difficult language to learn,  really the only way to get down the little tricks to the flow of it is to learn as a child.

Anyways, my husband is a native Hungarian speaker that speaks very well. He freaks out here because many of he peole nowadays are butchering the Hungarian language.

It seems people are getting lazy everywhere.

idk about "citizens", because to become one you need to know enough english to pass a citizenship test

but yes, there are lots of immigrants here that move into their own tight-knit "communities" where they don't even need to speak english because everyone around them speaks their own language

its especially pathetic how they rewrite the national anthem and pledge of alliagence in spanish, so immigrants don't even feel the need to learn english because everything is handed to them

Amen to that. When i was eighteen and that was back in 1991 i try to get a job at pioneer chicken, and i was told no because i did not speak spanish.
