someone I know is planning on wearing it, even after I mentioned it's probably not appropriate, telling me that a person who works at a shoe store says it's ok.

  1. I believe it's the bride's day to wear white.. I would say no.. she should  pick another colour.. she tries to steal the brides show..  that's rude.. not done ..on that one day ... that one particular day in her life one should respect it that the bride has the right to look the best.. and the guests can still look attractive and wear nice dresses but they should not outshine the bride on her wedding day.. When I got married  LOL my best friend wore all white and so did I .. it must have looked like a double wedding.. I wasn't mad at her because she is my best friend and by then I had known her for 16 years .. that's not worth ruining a great friendship over.. and she didn't do it to outshine me.. she never got married so I am glad she had her day.. to wear white.. but otherwise I would say it's inappropriate.. and rude.. toward the bride.. this woman can wear that dress to a cocktail party or elsewhere.. if she has common sense.

  2. There was a time when this would be considered in poor taste. Just like you weren't supposed to wear black to a wedding. Now everyone wears black. And lots of people wear white.

Unless the bride is a real traditionalist, it probably won't matter at all.  BUT if you aren't sure how the bride feels, then wear something else or ask her if it would be ok.

  3. I think it's perfectly appropriate. Unless it's puffy, white, and resembles a wedding dress. But if it's a cute sun-dress or something, it's fine.

    Rules aren't so strict anymore.

  4. put a little more color

not too much white to look like the bride

    good luck!!!

  5. I think she should find something else to wear, and another occasion to wear the dress.

  6. Only the bride is supposed to wear all white.  I suppose something with some white in it is okay as long as it isn't mostly white.
