My mom and my cousin are planning my baby shower but my mom feels it is inappropriate to put her name in the Giver BY: section of the invitation. I know the maid of honor is supposed to give a BRIDAL shower but I don't feel my there is anything wrong with my mother giving a baby shower. She does a good job with things like this and should get credit for this. Does anyone see a problem with her taking credit for the shower?

  1. A baby shower can be given by anybody except the mother.  Grandma can do it!

  2. In "the olden days" it might have been inappropriate for a family member to host a baby shower, but these days it doesn't matter.  It's totally okay for your mom to host the shower.

  3. no there isn't a problem with it.  She should get credit. My mom and brother threw my shower.  The only problem that I have with grandma's throwing the shower is that they can get so rapped up in hosting the shower that they can't enjoy the shower.  So make sure that she has a good time as well. It make everyone feel better.

  4. Why would that be a problem? I think that's a pretty common thing, and perfectly fine!  Now if you threw your own baby shower, that might be weird =)

  5. My mom gave me a baby shower, the only problem I had with it was that she wanted to invite all of her friends and very little of mine. It all ended up fine in the end though.

  6. I hosted my own shower, because I had no body else to do it for me...how is that weird?...I'd rather do it myself than NOT have one. Not to you sweetie, to the people that said the mother doing it is wrong...they've never been in my position so...

And it's so normal for the grandmother to host the shower. I've seen it done plenty of times :]

  7. Immediate family are not supposed to give showers UNLESS it is a family only shower.  That is, if the guest list is comprised of those individuals to whom the honoree is related.

  8. of course -be grateful instead of questioning her reason.
