I work in a secular business. A new employee wants to be called "Pastor X" while at work. This is becoming quite a divisive issue.

  1. is he is not a pastor do not call him that

  2. Tell him to get over himself...you shouldn't have to call him Pastor if you're not a member of his church.

  3. At work, he is not a Pastor.  It is not part of his job description.

  4. IF he is indeed a Pastor, while it may be an extremely formal way of addressing him or her by co-workers, it's nonetheless his right.  I find it odd that he would want to do that though given the feelings of his co- workers.  But regardless, if he is a Pastor, he has a right to be called "Pastor."

If he's not a Pastor, then of course you shouldn't call him that.  That's a title that's earned, not just something one decides he wants to be called.
