I have a wedding to go to in August, which is very soon. And I can't find another dress soon enough for the shipping and everything to come in, so I'm turning back on my only options and most of my dresses are black and white. So world, what is your verdict?

  1. I agree with the consensus.  Black is formal, it's an evening wedding and you will look elegant in black.  As long as you aren't trying to upstage the bride, you should do fine!

  2. You can absolutely wear a black and white dress to an evening wedding.  Your dress will go completely unnoticed.

  3. Wear whatever you like, just don't overdue it. It'll look bad if a guest looks better than the bride.

  4. As long as you don't look like a bride or a person in mourning at a funeral, most people won't have a problem with it.

Do you know if the couples families are conservative or not? If they tend towards the traditional, you may think about trying to borrow a dress from a friend in order to avoid a possibly awkward situation. But most people don't care nowadays.

  5. Probably so... as long as you're not wearing a long white dress with a tiara and veil, I think you'll be fine.

  6. I think it would be perfectly ok to wear the black & white dress you have. B&W are classic colors and are not going to over shadow the bride & groom. The only colors to stay away from at someone else's wedding are all white (head to toe) and red.

  7. should be fine

  8. Sure it is. Today anything seems to be o k. At one time it was long ballroom style dresses now it is pants for women and jeans for men. Which I don't agree with. But as long as it is a suitable dress why not.

  9. Yes, totally acceptable.

  10. You'll be fine.  I was to a wedding last week where I think half the girls and women there were dressed in black and white.

  11. Yes. Wearing black to a wedding is not as taboo as it sounds. It's formal (which is the dress code for most weddings anyway), tasteful, and elegant.

  12. Yup, you can wear it!
