  1. you wear black for funerals not wedding because it represents sadness

  2. I dont think there is anything wrong with wearing a black dress to a wedding but it also depends on what the dress looks like. If it's poofy and big then i wouldn't wear it but if it's slim and flowy like a "little black dress" then there's absolutley no problem wearing it. Have fun at the wedding.

  3. These days, just about anything is acceptable at a wedding..

If you choose to wear a black dress, why not place a bit of color with it, such as a colored belt and same color shoes, or a necklace and/or bracelet..

  4. I think the idea of black representing sorrow is a rather antiquated notion.  If that was the case, why would so many women have a little black dress always on stand by?  If you saw a women in black dress at cocktail party, no one would think twice.

The only colour you shouldn't wear is white (unless the bride and groom are having an all white wedding).

  5. I wore a black and white dress to a wedding in June, and I got several compliments from people.  I saw people with black dresses at the same event.

Yes, it's fine, as long as it doesn't look like you're in mourning (get something that's got a fun style).

Here's a great website for dresses that are either black, white, or both.

  6. Not an all black dress. If it has another color like red or pink with it, okay. If its for summer, buy pastels and bright colors. If not, try deeper tones.

    Hope I helped!

  7. Not exactly. It represents sorrow and hurt emotions. It mean that you aren't happy for the bride and groom. If its not all black(like, less than 20% black) then youd be ok. Dont wear white or black. Heres a nice one:

  8. They are more appropriate for an evening wedding.  A black cocktail dress is perfectly fine for an evening wedding.  In the day time, a brighter dress would be more appropriate (especially this time of year).  Plenty of women wore black to my evening wedding (November, 2007) and nobody said a word.  My in-laws are very traditional, so if it was a faux paus, I'm sure I would have heard about it.

  9. as long as its not a white dress
