Question:

Is it aright for a baby savannah monitor about 10'' long to eat raw beef?

i fed it to him an he loved it ,an it had blood in it but i was just asking cause i dont want to hurt my little guy.

  1. That should be alright, they are carnivores and feed usually on small invertabrates such as mice, some insects such as crickets, and rats. All that is in them is protien for the most part. Rats and mice are very similar to beef. Its nothing to stress, your monitor will be just fine and happy! Good Luck!


  2. Absolutely.  In the wild they rarely eat the same thing twice in a row.  Vary his/her diet.  Beef, chicken, pinkies, hoppers, monitor feed (pre-made store bought stuff), low-fat premium dog food (NO MORE THAN ONCE A MONTH)  as a treat.  Mine loves carne asada...

    But easy simple answer.  Lowfat, high protien.   Vary the diet.  If you can find cardboard that has low fat high protien, feed it to him.  Supp with vits and calcium like once a week.
