  1. When you make mistakes during tryouts, practice, or even in games, don't say 'sorry' but rather say 'my bad.'  They both mean that you admit your mistake but have different connotation.  Saying 'sorry' and being confident and aggresive kinda don't go together.  But if you yell 'my bad' at your own mistake, you can still look confident even after making a mistake.  Coaches do hate it when their players make mistakes and keep their heads down and lose aggresiveness.  My high school coach always yelled at us 'KEEP YOUR HEADS UP, SHAKE IT OFF.'

So, next time you make a mistake, keep your heads up, shake it off, and play HARDER if you wanna make up for it.

  2. Don't say sorry. If you make a mistake just suck it up and keep going. Just acknowledge that you did something wrong like you can say whoops or something but then just keep going like nothing happened.

To stand out make sure you have lots of spirit. Coaches usually base about 85% of their opinion on how much spirit, sportsmanship, and good vibes you have.  You still have to be good so even if you go in there not very confident pretend you are comfortable and confident and know what you are doing. Also if a coach tries to help you smile and really be open to his suggestions and thank him. Coaches like someone who is coachable.

  3. To stand out to the coaches, make sure that you are retreiving all the balls after the drill is over,  cheering your team mates, being agressive and if the coaches say something to you, do your bes to improve it. They look for coachable, hardworking, aggressive and team people.

  4. I would say MY BAD instead I do it all the time and my coach has even complimented me on it! dont put your head down when you mess up. our coach hates it. (most the team does it). instead try looking up at the celing or something. It has helped me to keep my spirit up and not bring the team down.

  5. At some point yes. you should not say sorry if the coach is correcting you for something that you have done wrong.

You should say sorry only if you know how to do it but failed to execute it.  But still prove yourself that it was a mistake you can correct immediately.

  6. Dont so much as say sorry just kinda laugh it off and have fun because how i made my highschool volleyball team is laughing at my mistakes and fixing them and they noticed and put me on the team for just having a positive attitude(and being a good volleyball player! lol) so just go out and have fun but u really dont have to say sorry just have fun!

  7. you don't need to apologize to them. most coaches look for a more aggressive player, so if you make an aggressive mistake, they usually won't mind. just go out and have fun when you play. don't go out thinking "im not going to make any mistakes" because if you think like that, you're going to make mistakes, and when you do, they seem a h**l of a lot worse
