Is it bad for a 14 year old girl to gain 10 pounds in one year??

because last year, i didnt gain anything when i went to the doctor for my yearly check up...but this year i gained 10 pounds!!

  2. Not at all, you are mostly likely in the midst of a growth spurt. Over the next couple years you will likely increase your height as well as your weight. It is good to be aware of your body changes though as it will help you be conscious in you diet. This is not to suggest at all that you need to go on some strict diet, but it is never to early to focus on eating healthy.

Adolescence is a time of lots of growth and changes so it's perfectly normal.  If you're concerned about your weight, you should ask your doctor, or even look up height/weight charts to see where you fall.  My guess is that you're within normal ranges, and if you're not, you'll probably either gain or lose weight to even out eventually.  This is a time in a person's life when they may go through gawky or chubby stages, so there's no need for worry, as long as you're eating healthy and getting plenty of fresh air and exercise.

    In fact, at 14, she should still be gaining height (and weight). Weight gain is to be expected during adolescence. It would be more of a concern if she was gaining no weight (particularly as she is growing taller).

    If you were weighed at the docs and he/she didn't say anything, then there's probably nothing to worry about.  They would have mentioned it if there was.


  8. absolutely not. 14 years old is when your body really starts to change. most of the weight you've gained is probably just b***s. just keep exercising apropriotly and u'll be fine as long as you feed your body healthy food it will do its job and make sure that ur not fat or too thin.
