Question:

Is it bad for college admissions to finish high school in 3 years by taking 3 classes online?

I have taken 3 AP classes and all honors classes. I'm second in my class, have played a varsity sport, and I am a club officer. I have also received many awards. However, I want to graduate high school after this year (my junior year). I can do this by taking 3 extra classes online or during the summer at community college. Does this hurt my chances of admission to a top-tier college?

  1. Great job so far!

It will be better if you don't take the online classes. You're last year, simply choose classes that have a close relationship with the major you want. Just make sure you upgrade your honor classes to all ap. The good thing about this is that you will be better prepared for college and you receive college credit through the ap exams, making college that much cheaper.

    Good luck,

    peace

  2. No most school will look on this favorably since it shows that you can work with current technology and demonstrates that you are dedicated even when you are at home and could be doing anything else.

  3. What will hurt your chances at top high schools is not having the extra year to excel in your activities, to get the leadership positions seniors get and to solidify the types of accomplishments top colleges want to see. You'll get no points for early graduation and it can only hurt in terms of having all you can to offer.

  4. most likely no because colleges will be impressed that you graduated early

  5. I would advise you not to. Not necessarily because colleges will frown upon it, but rather because you'll be missing out on one of the best years you'll have.
