is it bad for my skin if i sometimes use vaseline (petroleum jelly) as a moisturizer on my face when i can't find my normal moisturizer?

kind of an odd question but I'm just wondering, by the way i put some on then wipe it off with a soft wash cloth. its not like i put a bunch on and leave it on.

  1. If your skin is dry, it is a perfect moisturizer. It naturally makes your skin softer and less dry. Try putting some on your eyelashes too, it makes them softer and thicker. You'd be surprised at all the things you could do with that stuff :]


  2. Vaseline is a humectant which means its made from crude oil (petrolleum). It has absolutely NO moisturizing agents. What it actually does is seals your skin "shut" so it doesnt allow moisture to the cells growing underneath and it doesnt let toxins OUT of the skin causing a build up of bacteria aka acne.

    Moisturizers are more important then cleansers,toners, masks, etc. They are CRUCIAL to keeping healthy skin. So Yes, Pure petrolleum jelly is not recommended for the delicate and senstive facial skin.

    To prove this: if you use vaseline on your lips everyday as a chapstick, within 7 days of using it, black heads will appear around your lips. Chap stick is made of petrolleum as well thats why it is addictive and must be applied constantly in order for it to "work".
