  1. yes, it is.........because do it

  2. Any training at low stress levels would be all right, but remember, a 1,000 pound horse, with matchstick legs, trying to get up or down is a strain. You don't want to cause a problem later on for both you and your horse.

  3. I once heard a top trainer say the most dangerous thing a horse does is get up and down.  He suggested never teaching your horse this...but said if you did to only practice it a few min. each day.

I had a horse that I taught to lay down when i was a kid and he performed the trick a few times every year for 25 years and his legs were fine.  Once I made him do it on grass and he kneeled on a stick as he was going down and he refused to do the trick for months after because the stick hurt him..from then on he would only do it in soft sand and refused to do it on grass.

  4. its not... not any stressfull then ridding.. i wouldnt do it with you on them.. but trick horses like that do it all the time... you need alot of trust with your horse for them to do it... its not going to put tremendise strain on them.. they lay down on there own.... and my horses bow thats easy to teach
