Question:

Is it bad if I accidentally hit my LCD with my hand?

I accidentally hit it; the impact was like a knock on a door. The section of the screen I hit flashed white on impact, for about a quarter of a second, but nothing really happened. The TV works just fine. But did it cause any internal damage?

  1. I should be okay.

Just keep looking for dead pixels to be sure.

  2. Any internal damage on LCD displays are noticeable immediately. LCDs are delicate but they can survive an impact from your hand. Now if we were talking about a hammer, then that will be different. Don't worry about it. Just be careful next time.

  3. If it is working, then you probably didn't do any internal damage. The flash you saw was possibly a few pixels got damaged.

  4. No it wont, if it turns on and off and the picture is fine, then its ok.

  5. You are lucky.  If it looks ok, it is ok.

  6. YES it's BAD !! Don't touch it like that !

You can rupture the membrane, and THEN you're Fu@Ked !

Don't take ANY chances like that.

As for your TV set, you DID get lucky....keep it that way.

  7. LCD Pixels are like little shutters that open to let light through.  When you pressed on them you squished them momentarily so they were "open".  That was the flash you saw.

If they all went back, you did not damage them.  However, I wouldn't keep hitting them.  If the cell(s) do take damage, you have to replace the entire screen and that is big bucks.

I hope this helps. Please return and select a best answer from all of those submitted.
