Question:

Is it bad if I have standing water on newly seeded lawn?

Yesterday, our lawnscaper just planted our lawn using hydroseed. We watered it last night for a couple hours (switching spots every 20 minutes). Then last night and all day today, we have had rain-all day long and now we have standing water in our lawn..everywhere..it looks like a pond in some places. Is that going to cause a problem?

  1. The water might drown your seeds if it stays long enough.  If it's all gone within a day after it stops raining, it should be okay.

  2. Please allow the land to dry naturally and hope for the best; some grass seeds love good soaking, others do not. I hope it helps.

  3. It depends on how long the water is there, maybe you will have a warm day to help with drying it out, but not too dry. Best wishes!
