I hippy girl I liked called me a good ole boy. I want to know what she meant by that.

  2. let a southern girl answer that for you -

    a good ol' boy can be a compliment.  It means you actually have manners and you treat people right.  You're polite, you get the door, its possible you say 'sir' or 'ma'am', you can be counted on to do what you say and you're willing to help out when someone needs it without expecting pay back.  

    or -

    she means you're a hick, a redneck, a slightly simple, behind the times good natured dunce.  It could mean she thinks you're backward and hold un - pc views.

    usually you can tell by the tone of voice that's used.

    a 'good ol' boy' used to be a compliment.  Over time its also come to represent a backward, back woods, ignorant view because too many people like to paint an entire group of people with a very wide brush instead of realizing there's good and bad in every mix.  Such is the joy of slang.  Someday ask me what 'cracker' used to really mean before people outside of the area got ahold of it.
