  1. would it have been different the other way around, i think this has very little on the so called "sirengate of last season. interstingly also involving the saints aswell

  2. As long as the umpires are consistent it's good for footy. Just bad for the player who dives on the ball and makes no attempt to get rid of it. Especially in the opposition forward line. A hard lesson to learn.

  3. It's great when it's a free for your team,but when it's against you...BUGGER!!!!

  4. You beat to it Broooce, I was going to ask the same question. Anyway, I hate the way the game is heading, I hate the hands on the back rule, I hate the tug of jumper rule, soon their will be no jumping on players backs to grab a mark.

To give a free kick in the dying few seconds, for a stupid and ridiculous reason, is just simply pathetic.

Edit....How can one player get rid of the ball, when he has up to 6 players all around him or on him? How can that be holding the ball? The ball has no-where to go.

  5. That's Aussie Rules Broooce!

Great outcome tonight, hate those bombers!!!!

  6. If its a free kick you have to call it. Whether there is 50 seconds left, or 50 minutes. The free kick was there and had to be called. If anyone is to blame it will be the dill who gave away a free kick so close to goal so late in the game.

  7. If the game is decided on a free kick in the end, remember a couple of things.

Manfries CHOSE to not dispose of the footy and cause the free. The umpire was doing his job by blowing the whistle.

Same thing happens in basketball, a foul in the last 5 seconds or so of a close game. It happens in any kind of game. A player CHOSE to break a rule, the umpire or referee did his/her job to blow the whistle.

  8. Thats footy for you Broooce....its sux when it happens to your team!

You do kinda feel ripped off though!

  9. Anyone remember a couple of years ago Hawks vs Bombers when monfries had a shot at goal in the dying seconds and put it out on the full? This time it was his fault they lost again! He is no good under pressure at the end of a game - bit of a choker!

  10. Some of the greatest games have been decided that way.

AS much as I hate it when it happens AGAINST my team, I think it's a part of the game that would be very sad if it disappeared.

What would a footy match be without a meat pie and beer coming out of ya mouth while ya yelled abuse at the umpires?  May as well play darts for a living :-)
