I'm a Junior in High School; and over myspace my senior friend just told me everything his going to do here is his message:

I'm going to Liberty University

its in lynchberg Virginia and its a christian college.

I am going to Major in Sports management which will lead to my future as an athletic director or a GM of a Major league team. I am gonna minor in music, music Ministry and Youth Ministry and coaching.

I don't even know what I want to do as in a Career!

And it really makes me want to just bawl. I already feel like crying right now.

Everyone else has a plan.

My only plan is to go to a 4 year college.

And hopefully move to Europe after wards.

I'm so scared.

  1. Hey im in same situation i need help with this to im a Junior and i dont know what i want to major in!

all i know is i wanna become a doctor!

  2. Don't be so hard on yourself, very few people know what they want to do as in a career,..even college students and some graduates!!  They have "ideas" as to what they would like to do and then they have to go find something that fits those ideas.

College majors don't necessarily dictate what you will do career wise for the rest of your life.

Yes some college majors are career specific like accounting, medicine, law others are more general.

If you have any interest in business you might consider international business or marketing, management, finance or accounting.

If you are more interested in cultures, languages, customs try studying "something" in liberal arts like English (literature, etc), History, Political Science, art (art history etc) or Linguistics or even a language like French or Spanish or Italian etc.  Most of these studies are located in a college's Liberal Arts college.

  3. Don't even worry about it!

You will probably change your major anyways. And you still have years to pick it, since you have until you are a sophmore/junior in college to declare one. And there is no time limit for college anyways.

When I was in high school I was SURE I was going to major in Anthropology. My first year in college I pursued an anthropology degree. Then I transfered schools to study nutrition. Then I changed my major to psychology.

So don't even worry about it. You will get to college and take some generals and from there you will be able to tell what things interest you and what your goals are for the future.

If you want to move to europe afterwards, have you considered majoring in a language? Or history?

  4. It's okay!

I am now a Financial planner. But, I take Architecture in college. I major almost everything under the sun.

I am in the same situation like you before.

It is not a bad thing. Actually i think it's natural. We, humans, fear change and the unknown. After high school seems like the inevitable unknown but it wasn't bad.Plus, those guys that seems to have a clear vision of what they want may not even get near to their dreams.

Just be sure that you decided on something you like and do your best.  Try to go for the things you like to do. Maybe its good for you as your career.

You're not clueless, are you? You like to go for a four year college. That's a good start. HAVE FUN AND LIVE BY THE MOMENT. Research for college/university offerings. Explore-  that's the best part of world has to offer!

  5. It's perfectly fine to not have a major picked out yet. Many students who have a major and/or career picked out ahead of time discover that their true interests lie in a field they hadn't even considered. Your major and minor classes should use up less than half of your required hours for graduation. Use your first two years to explore different fields of study that interest you. I switched majors three times before graduating with a degree in English, then ended up in a totally unrelated career field. Good luck!
