  1. You definately need milk.  If you don't drink milk you should include yogurt, cheese, pudding, or anything else that is dairy into your diet.  It is essential for strong healthy bones for your entire life.  If you don't eat any of those things, then eat Tums with calcium on a daily basis.  They will help to supplement your calcium.

  2. Yes you are making a good choice . I love milk and and dairy products too but you can be healthy being a vegetarian just get your vitamins and try your best to stay away from too much junk food

  3. I am also a vegetarian and have recently given up milk, after spending months trying to find out what was making me bloated and sickly in the mornings. Human bodies are not evolved to process cows milk. Lactose can make certain bacteria build up in the intestines, which gives you wind and diarrhoea.

  4. Yes and No. It's awesome that you don't eat dairy (cow cruelty, see below link) and I hate milk too. It makes me puke. But if you don't get any substitutes then you aren't having a healthy diet. Its also rocks that you're becoming a vegetarian (I'm one too) but when you become one you still have to find a way to get your protein. Eat nuts and the fake meat (I recommend Boca and Morning Star brands) so you are getting the right nutrition. Fifteen is still young and you are still growing, you need to stay healthy.

  5. Becoming a vegetarian is very good, but you need dairy for strong bones, healthy teeth, and so things like your nails and scalp don't flake. Try out different kinds of yogurt. Or maybe even soy milk. That might make a difference.

But you NEED dairy. Doesn't matter what kind of dairy, but you need it.

  6. drink milk

  7. Milk has fat, cholesterol, protein and a little bit of calcium in it.  The idea that you "should" drink milk is largely propagated by the dairy industry that is trying to sell you milk.  In most countries in the world the only people who drink milk are babies and the adults are lactose intolerant.  Just as long as you get some calcium from other foods or in a vitamin, you should be fine.  There are plenty of sources of calcium besides milk and they usually are not loaded with fat and cholesterol--meaning it is healthier NOT to drink milk.

  8. You should drink milk because.... when you get older you can suffer from osteoporosis. Milk contains Calcium which aids with the building of bones and so on.

  9. Some of the biggest and strongest animals in the world are vegetarians, but they have a special ruminant stomach that allows them to eat and chew the cud of all of the cellulose and fiber they have to digest in order to get enough nourishment to survive. I should add that many of the healthiest people that I know are also vegetarians.

As far as dairy is concerned, pasteurized dairy products are practically indigestible for us because all of the enzymes that are needed to be able to absorb the dairy nutrients have been killed by the heat.

If you ever get the chance, you might try a small glass of raw milk from grass fed cows. It is really delicious, and a small amount of it is quite satisfying. Cream from grass fed cows actually has a slight, pale green hue from all of the chlorophyll. Eggs from grass fed chickens are also excellent.

Given your age, it would probably be a good idea to get as much vegetable protein as you can, because bodies that are still growing need more protein than a typical vegetarian diet will supply. As you get older, a vegetarian diet is actually the best way to keep from adding the extra pounds that lead to so many degenerative diseases later in life.

  10. don't really need dairy

  11. you can try other dairy products like cheese and yohurt but milk is the best.it gives you calcium to strengthen bones and teeth and you can get a illness if you dont get too much calcium into you.

  12. Milk is a source of calcium and Vitamin D.  Find alternative sources or your bones can get brittle.

  13. I have never liked milk and at 30 I have not drank milk in a good 20+ years, as an adult though I am aware of the side effects of not getting enough calcium... there are other calcium rich foods that you can consume as well as make sure that you are taking a multi vitaman... if you choose not to eat meat, thats totally up to you. Just make sure that you are getting the nutrients you need, especially right now. you are still growing and your body is changing all the time.

Maybe Tell your parents how you feel and let them know that you want to go about becoming vegetarian the right way so that you dont deprive your growing body. Ask them to take you to see your doctor and talk to him/her about what types of foods are rich in the vitamens your growing body will need.

  14. f*ck the milk there is other stuff u can eat and drink 2 get calcium most ppl r allergic 2 dairy And they don't even know it I hate dairy also its disgusting I don't think humans were ment 2 drink animal milk

Advertisements make us believe that milk is the best way 2 get calcium but really there is a ton of other ways 2 get calcium

  15. You can take calcium supplements if you're not drinking milk. That way your bones and growth won't be affected.

  16. yes its bad you dont drink milk your gonna die. no its not bad its just your choice but if you dont drink milk then you really should take calcium pill vitamin things. and if you wanna become a veg head then thats your choice to. just remember you will have to like nuts or peanutbutter and beans. or you will also have to take protein vitamin things to.
