  1. dogs need a certain amount of affection which is good as long as you set boundaries and rules it should be ok

  2. Affection is a reward for your dog, so only give it to him when he is being good. Dogs learn through a process called conditioning, they repeat behaviors that get them good results (e.g. affection) and stop behaviors that get them bad results (e.g. being ignored). So if you want to give your dog affection, just ask him for a command first (e.g. sit or down) then you can praise him, treat him, and give him affection for following your command.

The best way to establish your leadership is through the NILIF (nothing in life is free) program. Don't give anything to your dog (including food, toys, freedom, and affection) until he does something for you first.

  3. Yes i does... if you show him affection at the wrong times. Its kinda hard to explain but you should only show affection when he is calm and being a good boy. Check out http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/articles/hum... for more info.

  4. no cuz since you give him food and scold when he's bad, it's still makes you boss.

  5. Not if you stay the alpha dog and correct him when he is not behaving

  6. It's alright to be affectionate with your puppy, as long as you don't get affectionate when the dog shows unwanted behaviors. For example, you wouldn't say 'Good Boy' if your dog had an accident on the carpet. You have to lay down the law with your dog, and only reward him when he shows good behavior.
