Is it bad to drink too much water?

I've been starting to drink a lot of water. About 16 a day. I want to become healthier, so basically my diet consists of water, yogurt, fruit, and vegetables [no meat]. Is this bad to do? It's still better than what I used to eat and drink. Nothing, but soda and junk food.

I guess this is more than just one question, haha.

  1. Dont drink a lot of water at once. If you drink about 16 a day with hours in between (and you go to the bathroom a lot) then i think it should be fine.

    Its not bad, but you have to eat other stuff too (like bread and carbs...)


  2. Its not bad to drink more water. helps u prevent dehydration and lose weight faster. However, try to drink moderately or else u will tend to get water retention at all the weird places. I dont eat meat either and i still survive.

  3. it's ok to drink around 2-4 litres a day. if you're eating a lot of fruit and veg too then take their water content into consideration because most fruit and veg are 80-90% water. there's not much point of you drink more than 2 litres a day, but it's not going to kill you.

    also, your diet doesn't sound too healthy. you need more variety to ensure you're nutritionally balanced. it's great to stay away from meat, but include more protein in your diet like nuts and legumes, and you need carbohydrates too. chose starchy vegetables or wholegrain breads.

    it's great that you've decided to develop a healthier diet, but please do it the right way. make sure you have at least 1200 calories a day and eat a variety of foods containing all the essential nutrients like protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats. you will get all your vitamins and minerals from the fruit and veg you eat.

  5. yes but its alot more the 16 some peple with compulsions can drink water to they sick

    u should have some starch and protein in there as well if u dont want meat try mushrooms or meat substitures

  8. For most people, water is fine, but it is actually possible to die from drinking too much water. I think it has something to do with the salt or potassium balance in your system. I'd never heard of that until a friend of mine told me her son had this condition and had to be hospitialized from drinking too much water. They didn't think he would survive.

    Later, I read in the news about someone that did die from drinking too much water.

  9. Gah! No meat?! Make sure you get your protein on, either through supplements or nuts & tofu. And yes, it is possible to drink too much water, your cells will become over saturated and you could drown internally-- but that doesn't happen unless you drink massive amounts of water all at once.

  10. I think you cannot drink too much water. but watch for your iron and salt.

    it is good to cut meat down, but you shouldn't leave it completely. meat has the best protein for our bodies.

    please don't cut your fat completely, either. some vitamins can only be processed in combination with fat - that is A, E and some B vitamins, I think.

    So it would be best to steam your vegetables or fry them in a pan with little olive oil, for example (high degree in unsaturated fats).

  11. Please take some iron pills . I became anemic when I gave up meat. Not so good .I had my period for way too long. It got to a point to where I couldn't even walk up a hill .The doctor gave me iron pills after I was on an i.v. for 1 hour. Please take care.

  12. Actually, eating no meat isn't healthy. You need protein. I used to be vegetarian becuase i thought it was healthier too, but then my nutritionist told me I HAD to eat some. Either that or give myself injections.
