Is it bad to eat alot of fiber?

so i was just wondering of its bad to eat alot of fiber because latley ive been having trouble goin to the bathrrom and i think its because i dont get enough fiber....but also i remember a time when i ate some kind of cereal that had like 5g of fiber per serviing and i had like a whole bowl of it and the next day when i went to the bathroom i couldnt beleive how much p**p came out and my stomach hurt to

so yea i was just wondering if its bad to eat to much fiber in a day or how much you need

  2. Fiber is great for you... it cleans out your colon, but no more than 50 grams a day, you could have an intestinal obstruction! Anything in excess, even the best things for you, can lead to a toxicity

Fibre is hard for the body to digest so if you're eating far more than your body can 'process' at any one time it probably isn't that good for you and wouldn't gve the associated health benefits anyway... it is for the reason that your body finds fibre hard to digest that helps you go to the toilet and relieve constipation as it acts as a cleanser to move all the waste in your bowels along... it is good to eat it in the right proportion to the correct schedule to keep your excretory and digestive system in good working order

    your cereal 'incedent' is probably because your not used to it but you will get used to it.

    5gms is not alot. 30 gms is the recommended daily requirement.

    yes muelsi is a great source of fibre. so is fruit. stuff like apples when you don't take off the skin.

    some tribes in africa get upto 60gms of fibre a day and they live longer healthy lives because of it.

    i've heard about muesli and the swiss people i think too. but im not sure about that.

    your not overdosing on fibre with your cereal so don't worry. its very healthy.

  7. Too much of anything is bad for you...just make sure you balance out all the foods you take in.

    Maybe fiber just makes your body react the way it did...kinda like how some people get gassy when they drink milk (lactose 'n' tolerant). Yeah....body reaction with the fiber...or you just had too much of it.

    Fiber is super healthy for you & your bowels! You need to eat about 30 grams of fiber per day from fruits, vegetables & whole grains (like that cereal that you had).... Do not shun the fiber - if anything the more the better!

  9. Any major changes in diet can cause problems.  You probably are right about not getting enough fiber: most people don't.  Try introducing it into your diet gradually so your system can adjust.  An apple or two a day, some oatmeal, etc... should get you on the right track.
