Question:

Is it bad to flush down broken glass?

I was changing the light bulb in my bathroom and I dropped the bulb in the toilet and a part of it broke into small pieces. Will it damage anything if I just flush down the small pieces? Because it's going to be hard to get all the small pieces.

  1. while i would not recommend disposing of glass this way, if you have a small amount in the toilet as an accident, it will be okay.

    No, it shouldn't damage anything.

  2. If it's smaller than a golf ball flush

  3. go ahead and flush! also, i would also throw some toilet paper in there to grab some of the glass, like it's sweeping it

  4. I don't think that will cause any problems.

  5. If you are truly concerned,

    get a fishnet,

    and..

    Well fish for glass.

But I do not think it will damage your pipes and what not.

  6. No Just flush it! it'll be fine. It's going to go from your pan into a 4" (100mm) diameter pipe. Generally plastic or cast Iron. It won't cause any damage whatsoever. I am a corgi registered plumbing & heating enineer btw.

  7. Go for it...

  8. Pick out any pieces bigger than a dime and flush...it'll be OK.  Flush again for 2 or 3 more times for good measure.
