Is it bad to freestyle during a race?

Is it bad to do some freestyle during an MX race?

idk if you are really good at it go for it... i was at a race a while back and a guy in b class 250 was in 1st and he started doin freestyle and about the 5th trick he screwed up bad and they had to take him out in the ambulence....by the way ambulances suc!! been there done that!! broke my wrist VERY BADLY mx racing!!!! but ya they suck!!!

I would think so but it wont hurt you if you try it but it could possibly eat up time you could be using to pull ahead of ppl

As a freestyle rider, I would not do it during a race. But, that's just me. I guess doing a Tailwhip, Heel Clicker, Nac-Nac is cool but i would not go beyond that. When Travis Pastrana did a Backflip during a MX race in 2006 it was actually a promotional deal that Suzuki/Red Bull/DC came up with to increase attendance that really paid off for 2007.
