I went to a pet shop and the budgies didn't have bands. This place was where I got my first budgie many years ago but it moved. My first budgie was banded. It had a ring that told when it was born around its leg.

  1. no its not bad, but you can be cheated(ie. the sales person tells you the bird is 1year old when it might actually be 7 or 4, because it doesnt have a band you cant tell for sure. Ot is obvious to tell if a bird is old or young thought but you would not know the exact age.

  2. Getting a bird that doesn't have a band isn't a for sure bad thing, just as long as you trust the shop you are dealing with. I know with my birds when i have 10 pairs all with babies sometimes its hard to get them all banded at the right time, band them too early and they slip off, go and do it to late and their foot is too big or you could break their toes, so it might have just been a breeder mistake. I honestly wouldn't worry about it, if you trusted the people you are dealing with and didn't care too much about knowing the exact age of your bird.
