Is it bad to give my 11 month old uncooked hotdogs?

I had heard that it was bad to give kids un cooked hot dogs. When i was little my mom always gave them to us and so i have given my 11 month old a few of them. Its her favorite food.. wether they are cooked or not she loves them. Anywya i always did it an dim fine. I was just curious as to what the problem would be.

I knew a little boy (he was around that age) I gave him an "uncooked" hot dog for dinner and he pointed at it and said to me sternly "hot" It was the only word he knew how to say but boy did he know how to use it! So I stuck it in the microwave (it was already cut up in non chokable pieces) and warmed it up. I gave it back to him and he looked at me questioningly and asked "Hot?" and I said "Yes it's hot now." and he happily started eating...

I don't think it matters whether or not it is cooked.

There shouldn't be a problem; hot dogs are precooked.  If they were raw, you'd have an issue...but my mom gave me uncooked hot dogs as a kid too, I loved them.  The bigger issue with hot dogs and young children is choking hazard, so make sure you cut them up REALLY small.

I think with little ones, the concern is choking more than uncooked.  At least that is what I have heard...

Hot dogs are cooked when you buy them.

despite what everyone says you need to cook them there are still bacteria an then and if you don't cook them your child will get sick

You should cook them, and  cut them up small so the baby won't choke on them  Salmonella is one thing you should worry about

You shouldn't be feeding her hot dogs yet, period. They are a choking hazard.

Give her smoked sausage links with jalapenos.

i think there really isnt a problem but a baby that young should get more nutritional food and maybe limit the times you give this meal to once or twice a week.
