  1. No, some people just say that because they think that all only-children are spoiled or brats. I know plenty of only-children who are willing to help, share, and don't beg or whine for what they want. It's your decision on how many children you have, one child may be enough for you, and that's great.

  2. i always here people saying "well, only children say they wanted siblings".  but i can assure you, the same number of people with siblings wish they were any only child.  it's all about the person and how you raise them.  i wouldn't have a child because you think your child may want one, i would only have another child if it works for you.  besides, only children are usually very mature, smart and successfull.

  3. No.

  4. no, i know alot of people that only have one child, its your choice how many you want,

  5. not at all!!!have as many as you want and as many as you can afford if u want only one then just have one but if u want 3 and can afford to raise 3 then have 3

  6. No. It's your choice.

  7. No. There are pros and cons to every family size and composition.  The 'right' number of children is the number that you want and can provide for.

  8. I don't think so.  Children can be well socialized regardless of the presence of siblings, esp. if you get them into playgroups, spend time w/friends and relatives, etc.  Also, with only one, your resources and attention are not shared so they get more of your time, etc.

  9. No.  You only got to buy for one.  There is pros and cons to one and more.

  10. You know, this is a question that I am struggling with too.  I have a beautiful daughter who is 14mos old.  For me and for my husband and our lifestyle I think that one child would be better for us.  But then when I think about my daughter and what would be best for her I find myself leaning towards trying to have another one.  Oftentimes when you hear only children talk about their upbringing they do wish that they had a sibling. Also, I have known several only children (including one of my best friends) and they are NOT without their issues related to being an only child.  Sooo...I am leaning towards having two even if I have to adopt the second as I am having struggles getting pregnant again.  Anyway...it is a very personal decision and you just have to do what YOU feel is right based on your personal circumstances.  To answer your question...NO it is not BAD to have only one child -- just wanted to share some of my thoughts on the issue...one that I have thought a lot about too.
