Is it bad to leave a GPS device in a hot car?

I just bought one for my car and would like to know before I start using it.

  1. Don't leave it siting on the dash. Not only will the hot Sun through the windshield fry it, but people are stealing them like they use to steal CBs. When you aren't using it, put it in the glove box or a side panel pocket or what ever.

No most electronics can handle it, I would not however leave it in direct sunlight, remember your car is full of electronics and nothing happens to them , As far as cold is concerned a electronic device can operate as low as -200 degrees centigrade , anyway I always take mine with me or put it in the glove box just to be sure .....Ren  

  3. The hot temperature will ruin the LCD display.  I have heard of heat causing displays to get black or purple blots on them.

  4. It's bad to leave any electronic device in a hot (or cold) car.
