Is it bad to leave my ps3 on overnight then play it for a few hours when i wake up?

no wayyyy it will never get busted......i left my ps3 on one night because i was up to the last part of mgs4...and i wanted to play rite away the next day...i think i left it on for over 12 hours....and then i started playing and nothing happened!!!!!! thays the reason i didnt get the 360 cause u cant play for more than 3 hours....i noe this because my cousin as the 360....

I have done the same several times without problems.  Now if it was a xbox on the other hand then it will most likely on fire by this point.

As said before no, its a pretty rugged system.

you could actually use the time its left on to run Folding@Home, nad have your PS3 saving lives while running.

Saving lives and running forever, the PS3 is a great system :D

PS3's internal fan will let it play as long as you want. Even if that's 24/7 mines is probablly used about 6-16 hrs a day and I left it off for about 2 hours one day and it still worked!

My PS3 was running for a very long time (Folding@Home project). No problems. Just make sure your PS3 in horizontal position and has 10cm gap around it for proper ventilation. Don't place it on carpets. Vacuum vent holes from time to time.

no ofcourse not. sony knew people would do this and thts why they built a system that can do it.
