I'm 16 and I have literally no work experience. I also don't know who to put as references other than teachers and my guidance counselor, but it's summer vacation and it's not like I have their home phone numbers.

  1. I learned in Career Investigations (a class) to NEVER leave a blank. Put "N/A" for not applicable

You can find their numbers! Look up your school website or get your school directory. The place probably won't call anyway. If you need to, give your home phone or parents phone number just in case (make sure you tell your parents first)

If you have babysat, put that under experience.

You need to find a job that doesn't give a cluck if you have experience or not! Try:

    Cold Stone Creamery

    tanning salon

    Sonic carhop

    Jamba Juice

movie theater(I don't think I even put babysitting and got a call back)

    pizza Hut

    Steak N Shake

    Starbucks

Panera (got call back with just 'babysitting")

    amusement park

    JC Penney

fast food (Chik Fil A, Subway, Dairy Queen)

    lifeguard

  2. Most people throw away job applications that have blank spots.  I know I was one.  They think well if they cant fill this out I would hate to see what else they cant do.  References can be grown ups you have known for along time.  ANyone in the public eye that has alot of control to speak.  Your friends parents that can answer how dependable you are.  When it list what relationship they are to you just put friend, teacher, or acquaintence.  IF the question on the application doest refer to you just write N/A on that line which means non-applicable.  Look in the phone book for phone numbers you need and call that person and tell them you are going to put them down as a reference.  Also have their job title ready and address.  When it asks what your hobbies are dont put too many cause they will think you will never come to work for interference.

  3. I have the same problem aswell, i feel like if i don't put those i have no chance ....i really dont know what to do.

  4. It's bad, but under the circumstances, it will probably be acceptable. You might want to attach a note explaining why.
