Is it bad to let a 2, 4, 6 year old go into the same dressing room?

In the gap, I've developed a system when I have the 4 young kids with me (only happened twice). I get the hanicaped stall if possible and lay out all the pants they need to try on (shirts always fit them). Then I sit in the couches with the other kids outside the dressing room (not enough room if I'm in there with them). Then they come out, I decide yes or no. If it's a yes, they take it off for me. If it's a no, they take it off and put it on the chair inside the dressing room. Then it's the next and outfit.

After they are done all dressed and done, I sit them on the couch and just try anything on the 2 year old I'm not sure about.

My question is, sometimes I get a dirty looks at this. I'm not sure why. Do you see a problem with it?

  1. sounds to me like you have a good workable plan, i don't see anything wrong with it, would the other customers prefer you take up 3 dressing rooms and leave the other kids to run wild while you run from dressing room to dressing room

  2. No. Are they all girls or all boys? If they're different genders this might be the reason but even if they are I don't see anything wrong with it unless the children are uncomfortable with it.

  3. No it's fine to let them change in the same dressing room. People need to mine their own business. I admire you for going and doing these things with ALL your children. It's not easy. I know I've been a nanny for over 15 years.

  4. Ignore the looks.  I do the same thing!  If someone needs the room, I will gladly get out asap!

  5. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. What is wrong is busy bodies that can't learn to mind their own business. Just smile at them if they give you a dirty look. Everyone has used these larger stalls in dressing rooms, bathrooms, etc. I can't believe that you would use the handicap stall if there were someone in a wheelchair waiting for it. You are not that kind of person obviously or you would not be asking this question.

  6. The sales clerks are probably wondering either how large of a freaking mess you are going to leave, or if you are shoplifting.  Im not saying you are, but that is a typical shop lifting scheme...  having multiple people, especially kids (the normal person wouldnt think twice about a mom helping multiple kids in the same changing room, so its less suspicious than 3 adults being in the same room), makes it a lil more hectic and harder to keep track of the garments taken in and out.

As far as actually changing in front of each other....  No, there is nothing wrong with that at all.

By other customers, I would say their issue is how long you are tieing up the room.  Or, you said that if its a yes you have them take it off for you.  Do they do that in the dressing room, or out of the dressing room?  If its out, people could be thinking that they need to be changing in the room.

  7. It's not inappropriate since they are all girls.  The reason you are probably getting dirty looks is that you are not in there with them.

  8. be sure it's big enough and you'll be more comfortable.  why are you worried about other people???

  9. It's perfectly fine and more logical to let all of them be in the same dressing room so noone alone. These days is not safe to let a young child be alone, not even for a few minutes! You're doing exactly what I do with my 2 girls. We go into the handicap dressing room and go to trying on the clothes! Do't worry about others.....they obviously don't know how it is to have more than 1 or 2 children and need to do time management! You're an excellent mother and don't let anyone make you feel any different. Next time you get those looks, tell them to deal with their own issues b/c you know they have some!

  10. no problems at all just when one of them starts puberty but by that time they will be changing themselves, don't let other people make you feel bad, i mean would you rather them be sitting out int the hall by themselves? no!, your doing fine don't worry about it.

  11. no its fine. u can use the handicap stall if one needs it. so go for it. sounds like good parenting ;D

  12. It's probably because of the shoplifting thing the user above me mentioned. I worked at a retail store and that was one of the schemes that you had to watch out for. It's unfourtante that people steal but the stores are just trying to watch their backs and prevent it.
