Is it bad to miss basketball practice from soreness?

I am in High school and I arrived late due to vacation so everyone is 2 weeks into practice and I am not as conditioned as everyone else. I can sprint with the big dogs w/out being a second or less behind and I am only 5'7".

But we just did 20 100 m sprints and I couldn't run after 5 so my legs are killing me. Should I take today's shootaround off because I am sore and may get up to 60-70%.

  1. you should not miss practice.  you should stretch, take some Ibuprofen tablets, eat bananas and potatoes (potassium) and drink lots of plain water (flush out the lactic acid that's causing the soreness) if you feel muscle soreness. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about how much Ibuprofen you should take.  Make sure you take a dose of Ibuprofen a couple hours prior to practice.

You will not get those muscle pains if you stay conditioned.  taking a break from practice will not help with that.

  2. rub some dirt on it boy! get your a$$ back on the floor!

  3. bad idea

  4. Tough it out.  Talk to coach.  Don't miss or skip though.

  5. you have to get used to it. just jog it though. you cant possiby run 2000 meters as fast as you can.

  6. I don't think that's a good enough reason

  7. Quit being a baby.

  8. missing practice is a bad idea. not only that you might miss something important, but also that your muscles need to get used to this kind of work.
