Is it bad to sleep on your tummy when pregnant?

I always seem to end up mostly on my tummy, maybe on a little bit of an angle as my pillow is shoved under my hips. I am 23 weeks and I definitely have a belly (its my second baby)

  1. it can cut off the oxygen supply to the baby lie on your side its the safest bet

  2. I wouldn't try laying flat on your tummy. Don't want to hurt the little bub.

But I would assume since your on a bit of an angle, it would be ok. If you get any discomfort, I would definitely try another way to sleep.

:) congrats on your pregnancy by the way!

  3. Prior to being pregnant I loved sleeping on my tummy. That was my sleeping position that I could fall asleep and now its so hard to get comfortable and not sleep on my stomach. I sleep on a bit of a angle just so i am 100% on my stomach. The other night I end up sleeping all the way on my tummy and I couldnt feel the baby move for a few days. I went to the ultrasound so i seen that my baby was fine but it scared me. The doc said its not really harmful but its safer to sleep on your side.

  4. the best way for a pregnant lady to sleep is on her side , not on the back nor tummy

  5. yeah maybe, even wearing tight clothes can affect the baby..

  6. Best thing to do would be to check with your doc. At 23 weeks I was able to still sleep on my stomach but as I was not a big stomach sleeper prior to being pregnant I didn't really find it difficult not to.

I reckon if you take the pillow away from under your hips it will help you not to sleep on your stomach as this could be causing you to roll over too far. Try a pregnancy wedge - this slides under your stomach when you are on your side which therefore doesn't allow you to roll over on to your stomach - it also helps relieve pressure from our back and hips as it acts as a support. If you are in Australia you can buy these from Spotlight, if not in Aus have a look on the internet.

  7. i sleep the same way hun always have and my kids fine

  8. i dont suggest it... but if your on a angle it might be ok
