Is it bad to stand next to microwave?

I would think that the microwaves in a microwave oven would not go outside of the compartment so it will be fine if I stand right next to it while it's operating

I dont think theres a problem...Ive done it since they came out and I am 40 years old and 3 children all healthy and cancer free.

my mom fusses at me all the time about it. So I guess not.

if you want to have healthy skin and a good brain then don't stand in front of it. it emits radiation.

Yes it is, when something is in the microwave, the microwave releases these waves that are bad for you also if something blows up its dangerous. I recommend leaving a safe distance between it.
