Question:

Is it bad to stop at Spanish 2?

It's my Senior year in HS and I am probably the only person I know with 6 classes. My grades aren't the best, I probably have a 3.3 average and am just looking to get into a cal state school. I'm in Spanish 3 right now, and I've already been to the class twice and absolutely hate it. I have a bad teacher, but he is the only one teaching Spanish 3. I'm also taking Physics and Algebra 2 this year, so what are my chances of getting into a Cal State school? I have also been doing a sport 4 years.

Should I take Spanish 3? I feel like if I dropped it I would have more time for other things like homework and a job.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

  1. Well you certainly have a full load! I have a feeling that this class is overwhelming you, and you haven't even taken it yet! If that is the case, as I suspect it to be, I say skip the class, you don't need to worry about it. 2 years of a foreign language is what is required, so that year would just be extra anyways. You are taking some mighty hard classes, and you have a pretty good GPA, as long as you keep up with what you are doing you should be fine. Then again, it really depends on your field of study, you aren't going to be a linguist or something of that sort are you? I say don't worry about it, and enjoy your last year in HS, but not too much! Good luck. :)

  2. Spanish is one of the few useful things you can learn in high school, but if it's really bringing you down, you can take it in college.  ÃƒÂ‚¡No abandone!

  3. It depends on what you plan on doing with your life after college, but many careers will score you higher if you can speak spanish, not just is Cali either.  I live in Minnesota and if I could speak fluent spanish I would already have the job I want.  This will help you in almost any industry where you will be speaking to people.  Honestly, if you speak fluent spanish and have good grades in college your high school GPA will mean very little.  Obviously, the higher the better, and you definitely don't want to fail any classes, but keeping spanish would probably be the best long term investment you could make.

  4. I took the minimum requirements in foreign language in high school 1 1/2 ago. That was only two courses in Spanish. Anyway, this solely depends on what your plan on majoring in as an undergraduate.

  5. If you don't like it, drop it so you can concentrate on your other classes, especially if its not a required class and you don't like the teacher, drop it.

  6. I think it depends on your major and the college program.  I took three spanish in high school.  I took 2 spanish courses at college, while I am a busines major.  Research the college, and check out the required courses for foreign language.

  7. No, You shouldnt drop it. and if he WERE a bad teacher. why would the school hire him??

Dont stop at 2. because u are limiting your chances of gettin into college by just doing "whats required"..

I dont think your schedule will be THAT busy.

I am starting sophomore year adn taking. algebra 2, Ap Spanish,AP, world history, danceline,Ap Biology, computer graphics, culinary arts.. and i still have time to so soccer, track(pole-vault), swimming, and now searchign for a job too..

sooo. the more classes completed, the better your chances. =D

P.s spanish is a CRUCIAL thing at this time especially in cali where you have so many non-english speakers.

  8. that´s weird a bad spanish teacher.

well if you think you have more chances, to improve in other classes.

    drop spanish.

but remember, more classes  that you complete, more chances for college.

sorry i can´t help you with spanish

i´m living so far away know.

    saludos y que tengas suerte
