Is it bad to swim in a swimming pool while it's raining?

uhm my friends and i wanted to go out to a pool party...

then it began to rain... my other friend said that it's bad to swim and we should cancel it because of a thunderstorm it would be dangerous.. is this true? i mean ive tried this before and it was fine.. is there a study that can support his theory..

  1. Like the only other sensible person here said: "you can swim in it if it's distilled water, then it won't conduct a thing".

    Water itself is not a conductor of electricity. The ions that are found in most water sources today are what conducts electricity in water. So, the lower the concentration of ions in the water, the less conductive it is. If the water in the pool is pure; you will be OK.

    You should just check the weather forecast to see if it is going to thunder, and thus lighning - or not.


  2. LIke everyone else has said...if it's raining you're fine....even thunder you're ok...but if there's lightning you need to get out. Electricity + Water = Bad.

  5. Rain if fine, but Lightening is what you need to look out for, because water is a conductor for electricity....
