  3. There are some analgesic medications which should always be taken with food or milk.  These are the medications which are based on or contain non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen.  Opiates are also known to cause an upset stomach in many patients, and this effect is diminished when taken with food.  However, Tylenol is fine on an empty stomach, and some patients have no problem with particular opiates.

As we do not know your medication, contact your pharmacist for exact guidelines.

  4. The answer is actually NO, it is not bad.  You do NOT have to go to the doctor (unless you want to).  Anytime you take a pain killer orally (by mouth) it has to be broken down and absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract (the stomach and intestines).  This occurs whether you have food in your stomach or not.  The positive to taking pain relievers with food or milk is that it helps settle your stomach so that you do not become nauseated.  Some people get an upset stomach whether or not they have eaten and some people never get nauseous with pain killers.  Taking a pain pill on an empty stomach will NOT "release bad stuff in your stomach" other than the medicine you want anyway.  If you did not want the medicine in your stomach, you would not have swallowed the pill.  Right?

  5. This would depend on the pain medication.  Some are fine on an empty stomach, while others are not.  Contact your Pharmacist.

  6. yes it releases bad stuff in your stomach!!
