in a recent poem i wrote about a lion and a whale, the lion and whale each representing 2 different men. in another i wrote about a girl who represented africa. now im writing another one about depression and i was thinking about writing about one of my problems as a dark room and another problem as something else which i havent decided on yet. anyway i wondered if this is just getting repetitive? because ive been using images to represent concepts for a few poems now. is this getting too much?

give me your opinion.

thank you

  1. Meteors are what poets are made of

  2. hya, ive never written poems but do paint a little and was thinking its just your style.  If you imagine a painting by a certain artist you know its them cos of the style. Also a band you might like the music.  You recognise the style and thats what makes it them.

Am I making sense?Q! If you continue to write as you do its just your sytle.  If you think its repetative and youve had enough then try something else.

    Good luck, haappy writing !

  3. It's fine as long as they don't become cliche. people always like to look for deeper meanings in things.

  4. That's so not a bad thing. It's just a way to write poems. And from reading a lot of amateur poetry I've started hoping to see more metaphors and images. I think they can be better then coming straight out and saying something, they make you think, and I think poetry should make you do that some.

  5. No, it's called conceit. Many famous poets used this. It can make the poem more fun because you can't tell what it is talking about right away and have to figure it out. God bless!
